Sorry in advance for how long this post is. :-/
My daughter is 7.5 months old and for almost the past month has been sleeping at night in a bouncy chair that we have in her room on the floor. We started doing this because after she started daycare at 5 months old she developed a nasty stuffy nose and cough. She is still (to this day) not completely over it yet (her pediatrician will not give her anything due to "she needs to build her immune system and her body needs to learn how to get rid of it on it's own".
She naps in a crib at daycare for 20-30 minutes at most lately and will take three naps throughout the day. We try and put her in her crib to sleep at night and she wakes up an hour later after laying her down crying and scared because her nose is stuffy and she can't breath real well and when that happens we will put her in her bouncy chair and she goes right to sleep and stays asleep all night because she can breath better and is comfy. My husband and I tried to put her in her crib last night and she woke up and hour later screaming and crying and freaked out and her nose seems to be clearing up a lot but not sure if she is scared of being in her crib or if she is prefering to be in her bouncy chair and not liking the fact that she woke up and wasn't in her bouncy chair? We have a humidifier running all night in her room for her nose and cough. We have tried propping a blanket under her crib mattress but her mattress isn't very sturdy when we do that and she's not stable when lying down. She rolls over a lot and tends to push her head into the railings and bumps her forehead against it and starts crying...we have a breathable bumper in her crib not sure how well it's still working for us since she pulls it down when rolling over and moving around in it.
She is not actively crawling yet but tries to but can't figure out how to balance her weight from one arm to the other. My hubby and I want her back in her crib and are only using the bouncy chair to help elevate her so she can breath through her nose but we don't want to keep doing it forever and won't be able to once she is too big for her bouncy chair. I have a feeling we may have to slightly wean her back into her crib like how we did when she was 3 months old from sleeping in our room in a pack n play. Anyone have any other advice for me?
Re: Getting 7.5 month old back into crib
Thank you for your response! That is what my husband and I are thinking that we just need to stop using the bouncy chair and get her to understand she has to sleep in her crib and that it's okay. We also know it could be a hard process but needs to hap
