o2 at home, how long?

My DD was born at 34 weeks on 2/4 and she is now 6 weeks actual, 0 weeks adjusted (it's her due date).

She's been on low flow 02 with 1/32 since leaving the NICU on 2.14, We've tried 3 times to test her off the oxygen and she's failed 3 room air challenges. How long did it take for your LO to kick the O2 at home? Did you wean slowly?

She mostly needs the O2 when nursing. My flow of milk still comes out pretty fast and she sometimes chokes and then turns blue(ish).

I want her to be healthy, but I dread packing the oxygen when i already have a toddler too. Hoping she can kick the O2 before the summer because parks and her giant oxygen tank would be a bummer.

  • While DD2 passed the room air challenge, she compensated with a higher resp rate, so they decided to send her home on o2. Literally, only one eighth of a liter. We couldn't even feel the stuff coming out of the tube! She was still on an NG tube then, too,

  • DD was on the lowest flow for about 2 months, when she finally passed the room test. Sometimes they just take extra time to be ready.

  • My little guy was born at 26 weeks and we went home on O2 3 days before his due date. He was on 1/4 liter for just over 3 months. No weaning at all but we have the travel tanks still in the house in case he shows signs he needs it. It will be 2 weeks tomo

DD came home on oxygen 24/7 at 1/32 L in April about 2 weeks before her due date.  About 2 weeks after her due date, the pulmonologist said that we just had to keep the oxygen on if her sats were under 92.  She started only needing it at feeds a
