Hi everyone!
I've been lurking on this board over the past few weeks--I never expected that I would find myself here. The preemie mom blog has been great to look through and browsing the posts has made me feel so much more calm about this preemie situation--especially those of you with all those thriving older babies and children!
Anyway, my baby was born on Feb. 23rd at 34 weeks, 3 days (water broke--no signs or complications beforehand). She spent 18 days in the NICU, and she is now home with us (it made me have a LOT of respect for those of you who have spent many weeks and months in the NICU--it's really tough to see your LO there when all you want to do is take them home!)
My question to all of you is about Neosure--our doctor wants us to keep Lydia on two bottles of Neosure a day (4-6ish ounces, or more if she'll take it). DH bought the bottle of the premade stuff, not realizing that the label says that once you open it, it has to be refrigerated and needs to be used within 3 days. Is the 3 day thing a fast and hard rule? Or should we just buy the powdered stuff (because there's no way we will go through the entire thing every 3 days). Anybody have experience with this? I heard that the powdered stuff doesn't mix as well... is that true?
Thanks!
Re: Intro and NeoSure Question
I am not sure a out the ready made, but we used the powdered and it mixed well as long as the milk was warm. We supplemented BM bottles with it. However it gave DS such bad gas that we stopped using it, he is gaininh weight well and he was so miserable
Lots of people like the Dr Browns pitcher for mixing formula, as one suggestion that mig
Thank you for all of your help, everyone!
Sounds like the powder works just fine, and I'm going to have to get the Dr. Brown's mixing pitcher by all of your recommendations--thanks for your wisdom!
