Anyone with Dequervains tendinitis in wrist? Tips please

I've have tendinitis in both wrists since October approximately. It resulted from lifitng the baby, changing diapers, etc and having weak tendons. I have done PT and it helped and also have been wearing braces daily. I have stopped lifting the car seat and went out only for doctors appointments with someone helping me lift the car seat.

A friend invited me for a play date it and I'd like to go but I'll have to drive and don't want to continue having to ask someone every time I need to drive my baby. It is frustrating BC I'm very independent and want to take my baby out.

I'd like to know if there are other moms with this and what you do. I was thinking about having the car seat already in the car and just put the baby there and then use a baby carrier or light stroller.

Any tips will be great!

I certainly don't want to aggravate the condition, I know there are some moms that have to have surgery....

  • I have it, it started with carpel tunnel in pregnancy and continued after due to lifting the baby etc.  She is 9 months old and its alot better now but still flares up sometimes. I can still feel wrist pain from time to time.  DD is so heav

  • Leave the car seat in the car and take the baby.

Get a nice baby carrier like an Ergo, so you can go wherever you want.  Or put the baby in a stroller.

  • Thanks for the replies ladies. I will start using a baby carrier and leave the car seat in the car. I won't be using my snap and go anymore BC that is intended for car seat. I'll have to find a light stroller for the car as well to be taking it in and

  • I believe I had/have it, but was never formally diagnosed.  It was the worst in my right wrist but luckily I stopped the bad habits before it spread too badly into my left wrist.  Here are the things that worked for me personally but ymm

  • I'll definitely look into the combi Zeus car seat because I can see how it can help if I can rotate it. My lo is now 19lbs 9 month (adjusted). What is the weight limit of this type of car seat?

  • I was having trouble caring for my baby because of this and got a steroid shot. I have had zero pain since then. If it didn't work, my doc was going to do surgery. Luckily, I avoided surgery. You should go to another doctor and find out about other option

  • Jsillyfun, I'm glad you got relief with the shots! I know it is an option and I may end up doing it. I saw a hand specialist who said shot once and if it doesn't work the et step is surgery (ouch).

I have a relative who is a physician and m

  • Thank you, it is  encouraging. Btw I had a similar  reaction to yours when I got a steroid shot on my but to decrease swelling, after a tonsillectomy. I got a "hole" in the area they applied the shot. At the time I dint even question when the do
