Natural Birth

low lying placenta (update)

low lying placenta is cause for a c-section?! I had no idea, I thought only a full placenta previa was reason for a c-section. Do I have any say in this? I obviously will do whatever is best for me and the baby... I will see my doctor (that I really like) in 2 weeks. Today the doctor just said it nonchalantly and gave me a form to get another ultrasound done. I loved my previous 2 birth experiences... and I am actually looking forward to labor and delivery with this one. I never expected a c-section to be an option... I guess I'll see if it has moved at all on wednesday.

Thanks for listening to me venting.

EDIT: My placenta is now 4cm away from my cervix!! No chance of a C-section! I hope I can have a great natural birth again!

  • I just wanted to share that my placenta was low lying (around 2cm) at my anatomy scan. They monitored it up until 38-39 weeks and I really pushed for a vaginal delivery. My ob was awesome and her husband was a high risk mfm and she said they discussed it

  • Mine was 1cm away at 20 weeks, the doctor told me it had to be at least 2 cms away, but not sure if there is any flexibility in that policy since a repeat ultrasound at 33 weeks showed it was more than 2 cms away.

Did they say how close yours was
