What pump do you have?

I'm wondering if I should go for a Medela Freestyle, Pump in Style Advanced , or potentially rent the hospital grade one.

My insurance will cover 100%.

Thoughts/recommendations?

Re: What pump do you have?

  • I had the Pump in Style but rented the hospital grade one for a few weeks after having my oldest DD and again after having my babies.

  • I rent a hospital one which is a Medela Symphony. It's "the Cadillac of pumps" (or so my LC says) and it's amazing. It's super efficient and considered to be one of the best out there. I highly recommend it.

  • I used the medela symphony (rented hospital grade) and medela swings.  To my surprise the swings were just as good.

  • I would rent the hospital grade. I purchased one and ended up renting one from the hospital. The suction was not that great on my personal one I ended up spending more money on it

  • I highly recommend the hospital grade Symphony as well. I used it for quite a few months to up my supply. I then switched to a PISA and really like it.

  • It really depends on how you plan on using it.  If you are going to EP then I would rent a hospital grade pump for at least the first couple months and then switch to a regular one once your supply is established.  If you are just going to pump
  • I used the Symphony in the hospital (in L&D and NICU) and the PIS at home.  My LC said that the PIS is nearly as good as the Symphony.  My insurance only covered the PIS and I got the same amount of milk from both, so I just stuck with the P
