Alright, I need help!
DS gave up his bottles, no problem, but I knew the pacifier was going to be a huge battle and I was unfortunately right. My goal is to get him to only using it at naps and nighttime. He is a great sleeper so I don't want to mess with that quite yet. He isn't very verbal and I feel like the pacifier may be hindering his speech a bit.
We started by limiting it during the day, only giving it to him when he was really fussy for no apparent reason. We were doing ok with that for maybe a week, and then he started teething really bad and we were back to square 1 within days.
Now, he is pretty much to the point of screaming and crying anytime he's without his paci. He knows we keep them on top of his dresser so he'll go over to it, stand on his tip toes and reach and scream for it. It's horrible.
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has had luck getting rid of the pacifier yet, and if so how? DS is very very attached to his. If it's only a few days of him screaming/crying anytime he's without it we can probably handle it. It's just so easy to give it to him when I know it's a sure fire way to get him to stop crying. DH had a pacifier until he was 3 and I feel like the longer we wait to get rid of it the harder it's going to be.
Re: The Paci Battle
A friend of mine said she cut the tips off of all of them and once the sucking comfort wasn't there, her son gave up the paci on his own.
Good luck!
