I would pronounce it like you do, but I would definitely never discount the name getting mispronounced. My name is Elly, rhymes with Kelly (would think that's easy enough to decipher) and I can't tell you how many Eli and Ee-lees I get from random people.

I do get a lot of Lora pronunciations, even from my husband who has trouble hearing the difference.

I've had this discussion with people on here before - but, where I live, Laura is pronounced "Lar (like car)-uh".  Same goes for Maura.  

Lara and Mara would be Lare-a and Mare-a to me.
