Daycare food question

If your DC is in daycare, do you provide all of their food? I was going through the paperwork for our daycare and it has the option of feeding them during the day. I think I want to provide all of his food, but will daycares feed children homemade babyfood, or is there a safety issue there? I will be providing BM at first of course.

Re: Daycare food question

  • We will provide his food.

  • DD stays at an "in-home" daycare center and I take all of her food. I do take her homemade baby food too. The provider doesn't have a problem feeding her homemade food. I put it in a little plastic container and send a spoon too.

    HTH!

  • We provide all the food.  Our girls are at an in-home daycare though.  That might make a difference.
  • They have a cook that prepares homemade baby food.  We will be using that when the time comes (hopefully soon).  You just have to tell them what foods you have introduced and that is what they'll feed your DC.  There's no way I'm paying for babyfood for daycare with the amount of money that I'm already dropping on daycare.

  • You can provide your own or once they eat table foods they can have what is being served that day. You have to approve what foods they can have for that week.

I plan to send homemade baby food once we increase it to 2nd meal a day.  We just started and are only doing it at dinner.  Once she's on table foods I'll probably send the majority and maybe use theirs here and there depending on what they are serving.

  • DS's daycare provides all food except BM or formula since they get reimbursed by the state and are FDA approved.
