I've been lurking for a couple of months, and haven't seen any posts similar to what I'm asking, so I hope it's ok for me to post!
I'm trying to figure out if I want to or can go natural this time. Here's my history:
Dd1. 41 week induction. 15 hours in only 3cm an writhing in pain. Iv pain meds and the tub did NOTHING. Got epi because I knew I'd never have te strength to push if I didn't. Epi relaxed me enough to get to complete in less than 4 hours. Pushed fr 2 hours, OB did a vacuum delivery. She was 9lb 9oz, blood in lungs, not breathing, acid in blood, high infection. NICU for 8 days.
For dd2, I went into labor at 38 weeks. After all the pain and scariness with dd1, I got my epi right away. After 3 hours, I could feel the pain again. Nurse checked me, I was at 6cm. She was going to have anesthetist come up and fix the epi. In that wait time, I felt everything, including the urge to push. I was at 10 and baby was crowning ten minutes after the 6cm check. As they were getting me ready and swabbing the iodine on me, I felt it all. She was born after 1.5 pushes. 7lbs 4oz. The epi had completely fallen out.
Bless you for reading al of this. I'd like to try to go natural this time if I go into labor on my own, or if I am induced and its going easier than my first. The problem is, I'm on my own with this. There are no midwives or doulas less than two hours away from me. There are no Bradley, Lamaze, hypno etc classes anywhere near me. Dh was absolutely wonderful with both deliveries, but he wants me to get the epi.
So, basically, I'm trying to figure out if I want to attempt this. If deliveries tend to get easier the more you go though. I know I'm kinda just babbling now, but any thoughts are appreciated!

I'm sort of in the same boat in that I won't have the option of a midwife or birth class where I live. I have been researching natural birth home study programs and there are a lot out there that vary in price depending on your budget. They

I’m a modern man, a man for the millennium. Digital and smoke free. A diversified multi-cultural, post-modern deconstruction that is anatomically and ecologically incorrect. No one can convince you to have a med free birth if you don't truly want it so that has to come from you but I do have a few things to say...
I think you need to put your 1st birth experience aside. The pain you felt
I kind of wonder the same thing for myself when we try for a 3rd. My first was an emergency c/s (necessary but scary). My 2nd was a vbac with an epi. The trouble I'm having is that my 2nd birth went beautifully. Labor was augmented wtih pit and I had a
Look into reading "Birthing From Within". The book talks about fears for birth, and I think it directly addresses fears about pain during labor. I agree with PP who say if you prepare for a med-free birth, and have ways of dealing with the contractions
