I was in a management role for four years and then relocated and did a very different type of job that didn't involve managing employees...then relocated again and recently started a new job w a steep learning curve, though interesting to me, a good challenge, but again managing people and I forgot how much I dislike it. Not because i dislike people or even the specific people, just the day to day stuff. Sigh. Anyone else? It comes with the territory of promotion and higher responsibility jobs in most fields, I know, but ughhhh. Some days it is just draining, especially when your predecessor was the total antithesis of you in style and approach (in good and bad ways of course)... Anyone else?
eta my original title said that I dislike managing people...I changed it bc it sounded more harsh than what I intended...I like people and in fact like working on teams, etc. I just have realized how much I didn't miss having to deal with the little issues, meeting deadlines, lack of follow through, miscommunication, trying to prevent problems but dealing with the, if need be, documenting, etc.
