Light headed when standing

LO is 4 weeks old today, and was delivered via c section.  I'm also breast feeding (every 2-3 hours).  I'm trying to drink water constantly and eating TONS.

I think I'm going to call my doctor on Monday because I'm light headed almost every time I stand up.  One time, I actually almost passed out.  (scared the crap out of me)

Any idea why this may be?  Am I not getting enough water?  Am I not eating enough?  Is my blood pressure too low?  Is it part of my hormones leveling out?  Does it have to do with my c section recovery?

Anybody have any similiar experiences?  TIA!

  • I feel that way when I don't take my iron for a few days. Sounds like you might be anemic.

  • I found out I was severely anemic after my c/s to the point I needed a blood transfusion. So now when I have light headedness or nauseousness I know it's a sign that my iron is low. I have to take iron supplements at every meal. IMO it sounds like you may

  • I read an article the said 70% of new moms are anemic.  I've been super light headed this weekend an plan to bring it up at my 6 wk appointment.
  • Are you eating enough? I find with breastfeeding I get really lightheaded/flushed bc I need something to eat.
