Now that we know that LO is a girl, we have narrowed down the names. One of the names we really like is Madeline. Pronounced Mad- a -Lynn. I prefer the spelling of Madeline over Madelyn but I am afraid people will call her Mad-a-Line. There is another name we also love that we might go with but do you think this will be a problem? I would hate for her to always be correcting people. My maiden name was a tough one and I really got sick of people mispronouncing it all the time. Any thoughts? TIA!

This is why we now have all these crazy spellings.
Madeleine is the traditional spelling for the pronounciation you want.
Madeline is Madeline- it's not pronounced lyn. Caroline is Caroline as well I don't know why someone would name their daughter Caroline if they preferred the name Caro

OK_ I am ready to make a concession! Madeline Kahn spelled her name Madeline but pronounced it with the "lyn" sound and she was awesome.
I think Madeline could be pronounced either way but I associate it more with the children's book char
