repost: bed transitioning 20 mo old

I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant with DS2 and DS1 is 19 months... today we decided to get DS1 new bedroom furniture so we could use the crib for #2... I would ideally like him to be transitioned by the time the baby comes, but I'm starting to get nervous. We don't get the furniture for another month... just looking for positive stories about bed transitioning! We did get him a full size bed and decided to skip the toddler bed altogether. Lately he has gotten interested in our bed, he will lay on it and say "night night" but he hasn't actually slept in it. He gets really excited to lay on big beds, but he won't stay still. So I'm already assuming it'll be a challenge to get him to STAY in the bed. He's never really been a great sleeper, didn't start STTN until 13 months and lately he has been sleeping 12 hours a night without interruption but some nights are still rough. Just wondering if there are any tips on a smooth transition!

  • We actually just went through this in the last 2 days. My 22 month old figured out how to climb out of his crib so we had to convert his bed. The first day was rough but the second day was way better. It took a lot of patience and putting him back in his

  • We just did this with DS a couple of weeks ago because we wanted him to be fully used to his new bed before #2 is born in May.

It has gone a lot better than I expected. We did our best to make the room toddler-safe, although he is especially curi

  • We just transitioned DS2 at 14 months, no worries at all. He's now sharing a room with DS1. Took maybe a week for them to fully settle in together but now we read them stories together, pop DS2 in his bed and say goodnight. They're both out within 5 minut
