So i'm trying to teach my daughter that she can't have any food she wants. She will often not eat her meal or snack and then beg for junk food later. I decided I needed to not give in and have her eat what she was given and that's it.
So she wanted a morning snack and I gave her banana slices. She loves bananas but saw the stupid bag of doritos my husband and I left on the table last night. She started throwing a fit, whining, pointing at them say "eat! eat!" and even after I moved them out of sight she fussed about eating but wouldn't touch the bananas. I didn't let her have chips but I did give her strawberries. Now she's back to her normal self eating that. Should I have said "bananas or nothing"? Or do y'all think it's not really giving in if I gave her something else but it wasn't something she was asking for specifically and is still healthy? I don't want her to feel she won, but I also want her to eat something... and something healthier than chips.
