Hi All,
I am brand new to CDing. Our baby is 4 weeks old and we are ready to start and I am a little overwhelmed. I know the differences b/w the various kinds so it's not that. I did not build a big stash, I actually just go prefolds and covers to start, and if that worked, I would stay w/ that and if not, then I would start trying other types one at a time so I didn't invest a lot of money in something that does not work.
Right now I have Thirsties Duo Wrap Covers and Oso Cozy Indian Prefolds. The prefolds are prepped and I tried one on my daughter earlier and just could not figure it out. She was screaming so I gave up and will try again tomorrow, but I thought I would see if there are any tips/tricks that would help me.
How do you fold them? They seem super bulky, but also don't have much to spare in wrapping it around her (the prefolds). They are supposed to be for babies 7-15 pounds.
They also seem longer than the covers. I have the size 1 covers, they only come in 2 sizes.
Any help anyone can offer I greatly appreciate.
I am also going to get some pockets or fitteds as well so if anyone has recommendations for those I am all ears. I have one Bum Genius pocket now.
Thank you ladies!
ETA - she weighs 10 pounds now
We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013. We love her to pieces.
We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011. She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.
Re: Need Help: Thirsties Duo Wraps and Prefolds
I second the videos. That helped us get started with different folds for prefolds and what to do with extra PF in a cover to maximize diaper capability.
PFs and covers is what we still use. When he was brand spankin' new, we folded them but
I also use snappi'd prefolds under covers (we started with Thirsties Size XS for the newborn stage). In addition to watching the videos for how to properly fold the prefold, a couple of tips:
