Trouble TTC

Starting to think we are doing it wrong.

I've been reading everyone's stories and googling everything. lol  It seems like so much of the stuff you guys talk about has not been happening and it makes me worry that we are doing it wrong.  That the dr isn't right for us.  I'm waiting for cycle day one at the moment, but before I go any further with this dr I need to have some questions answered, thats for sure.

I've never had a hsg, there was no mid cycle monitoring, clomid was the only drug that has been used so far.  Never any mention of a trigger, never had my follies measured.  I mean, what we did seems so basic after hearing about all of this stuff.

For my first cycle on Clomid, I started it on cd3, took it for 5 days.  Then they had me taking the opks for 5 days starting on cd10 which turned out to be the day after af ended.  I ended up testing 9 days in total.  When I told them I thought I had a positive but wasn't sure, on cd8, they had me come in for a blood draw to test for my surge.  Then called me and said to come in the next day for the IUI.  7dpiui they did a progestrone test and I was at 13.30.  Then they had me come in for an ultrasound on 11dpiui to check for cysts.  He told me I had one and that it was "still releasing progestone" and it would be fine, go away on its own.

I did my second round of Clomid, and my period ended up being only 4 days long, and I ended up Oing earlier than expected, I was basing it on my ff chart. But we bd late Saturday night, then O'd on Monday, so we didn't have a substantial enough sample, and had to skip the IUI.  My progestrone as of Wednesday was 20.80.  So my ovulation seems good.

What do you guys make of all of that?  Are there some things missing, or is this typical for the first go round?  I'm just so confused about how things have gone at this point.  When they called me today to give me my prog test results, she said that I don't need another ultrasound since we are skipping the next cycle.  But that the dr said to try one more time, IUI, and then move forward to IVF.  I just don't quite feel like we have done enough to be moving on already.  Idk.  This sucks!  Grrr... >:-(

Re: Starting to think we are doing it wrong.

  • Yes they have missed several steps with your treatment and testing. Are there any other REs in your area? You really should have an HSG before taking any medication. I know the other ladies will chime in as well, but I just want to say I'm sorry that y

  • Before even beginning treatment you should have had a HSG to check and see if your tubes are clear.  No use in taking clomid if your tubes are blocked.  Your husband also needs a SA to rule out any issue there.  Are you seeing a RE or ju

  • Thats the other thing I need to make sure of.  I'm not using my ob, its a fertility clinic.  But the drs profile on the website says MD, with a fellowship in RE.  So that doesn't really tell me that he is an actual RE.  Right?

  • 40 rounds!!!  Thats insane!!!! So glad you got a second opinion!

Well, I just don't know what to do then.  When I google REs in my area, him and his practice are the only ones that come up.  Every link.  All the others liste
