DD has been pooping in the tub lately, so someone recommended putting her on the potty for a little bit before she goes in. She also tells me now that she has to poop, so if its convenient, I'd try putting her on the potty then too. So not looking to train her yet, but figured we'd start with this.

Just go with the simplest one you can find. The less it is like a toy, the better.
I got one at Target, but I forget what the brand is.

We went straight on the toilet with a potty seat (BabyBjorn). I didn't want to have to transition twice!

We took DD to the store and let her pick it out. She picked the Elmo one and got really excited about it, and now she likes to sit on it and pretend to pee.
