So, DS had walking pnemonia and an ear infection on 2/22. He completed his antibiotics on 2/28.
Last weekend, the grandparents were really giving me grief about being so overprotective, and I started to question if I really am. On Saturday, my dad took DS outside for about 25 mins. On Sunday, MIL took DS outside for about an hour. Both times, he wore a ski jacket and hat. The temp on both days reached a high of 48.
Since then, he seemed to start exhibiting the cold symptoms and cough again, and today, he's back to the fever of 102+. We're seeing the pediatrician this aft.
Should I have stood my ground for him not to go outside?
Re: Poor Judgement?
Illnesses are caused by bacteria, viruses, fungus etc., not going out when it's cold.
i don't think it was a bad idea to let your child play outside in nearly 50 degree weather after antibiotics were fully completed for a few days. that is crazy. fresh air and vitamin d from the sun are good for kids.
with that being said, i hope
No, they were not displaying poor judgement. In fact, I agree with them that you were being over protective. Getting out into the fresh air is good for a body, and not only is 48F not all that cold, but he was warmly dressed.
