Advice needed on a wedding with a 6 month old

Hi everyone! I need advice from moms with 6 month olds. Dd will be 6 months when we attend a wedding in June for dh's cousin. Everyone is insisting we go and bring both dd and ds (who will be almost 2.5 yrs then). I am dreading this! I think ds will be fine since he will get that he is at a party, but how on earth do I do this with dd? Anyone have any thoughts or advice on this? The wedding starts at 5:30pm so I imagine if we stick around through dinner, you're talking on staying until at least 8:30pm. And then to top it off, the location is pretty frsutarting in that the closest hotel we can stay at is 30 minutes away. Anyhow, I'm looking for advice on how to handle this. TIA!

  • There is absolutely no way I could have brought DS to a wedding that late at 6 months. He was irratic, usually asleep by then, and who knows? Your LO could be sick, teething, going through a growth spurt...There's too many wild cards for me.

  • Bleh...this blows. Everyone who could watch dd for us will be at this wedding. MIL seems to think between all of us we'll figure it out, but I remember with ds how critical the sleep schedule was at that point...

  • Not sure if this will help since we did this at 4 months.  It was an evening wedding as well, and the ceremony started 45 minutes late.  My boys did well.  They actually slept through the ceremony.  They woke up afterwards & did

  • DS is 6 months and I just took him to a wedding. The ceremony was in a church and quick. We got there maybe 10 mins before it started. I brought him in his car seat but brought him out. My mom held him for a little bit, then I did. The reception was about

  • My sister got married 2 weeks ago.  I was MOH, DH was standing on the groom's side and DD was flower girl (8 months old).  After DH walked her down the aisle, he handed her off to my aunt for the ceremony.  She fussed a little, but then

  • I'm going to a wedding this Saturday and it's around the same time. Ds goes to bed at 7/7:30, so we can't bring him. My mom will be watching him.

I'm using this opportunity for a night out with DH!

  • Honestly, I've never taken my kids to a wedding. Now that he's 6, I probably take DS1, but that's it. Weddings are a celebration of the couple. How can you enjoy yourself if you are constantly stressing about where the kids are, if they are hungry, is it

  • One more thought, do you have a regular sitter you could pay to make the drive down with you and stay with your youngest at the  hotel?
