Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Someone please tell me there's a light at the end of the tunnel

My 4.5 month old DD takes a string of 4-5 30-40 min naps a day. It's starting to get really depressing for me because it's been an entire winter of me having to rock her to sleep for half that time in a dark room.... and then I get no time to do what I needs to be done.  I feel like I have tried everything, but still no luck. Sometimes she is so cranky because she is not getting enough sleep, but I can't get her to stretch it out. My question is, did your LO ever do this and when or how did it get better? I would so appreciate any responses. Thank you!

  • Ds was a terrible napper until around 6 or 7 months. Then, it was like a switch flipped and he started taking 2 2 hour naps a day. It does get better!

  • Thank you so much! It's so nice to hear this. : )
  • DS was doing this for several weeks.  It could take as long as an hour (of bouncing, rocking, singing etc) to get him asleep for a nap, and he would only take a 20-min nap each time!  Rinse and repeat all day long!  I was so frustrated b

  • DS was also a terrible napper until about 7 months. It was exhausting and frustrating! I was so amazed and happy when he started taking 2 hour naps. It felt like I could breathe again! One thing that helped us was doing SleepEasy to teach him how to fall

  • DS is 7 months old and just stopped the whole 4 30 minute nap thing. He usually does 30-45 minutes for his first one and 1-2 hours for the second. He goes to bed at 6pm. His naps changed/got longer when we cut out the last nap and moved his bedtime up

  • I feel your pain!  From 4 months until recently (2.5 months) DD would wake up at 30 minutes on the dot 90% of the time, sometimes we'd get up to a 45 minute nap.  She also needed to be held for her naps (previously would nap in the swing or coul
  • I asked this so much in the first six months! EVERYONE said pretty much the same, that it got better around 7 or 8 months when their kid went to two naps. I am sorry to report that it took until almost 11 months for us, BUT it did happen and now he's a gr

  • Thank you all so much for your responses. I am not feeling as alone. I'm hoping to sleep-train her when she is 6+ months and hopefully this helps to extend her naps.

I guess I will be the one who says it hasn't gotten better for me lol. DS has always and I guess will always be a crappy napper. He sleeps amazing at night 7-7- 7:30 and has since very early on but his naps have been an issue, sometimes he will sleep f

  • Have you tried wearing her?  The motion of you walking around may put her to sleep, and you may be able to get things done.

  • I remember this!! DS was up an hour and sleeping an hour and continuing this cycle all day from 4 months for about 5 weeks. Then finally he started being up for 1.5 to 2 hrs.

  • It will get better! Both my daughters were like this t'ill they hit 6 months and then they started taking 2 hour naps. Just today, DD took (2) 2hour naps! I couldn't believe it! Plus, I notice if I put her in her crib after she eats, she falls asleep on h
