I feel like my daughter has a constant runny nose and cough. I am a stay at home mom and she is only around other kids at church. I keep quick short hand written notes on the side of my fridge whenever she has a runny nose/cough/throws up/takes any medicine/basically anything is out of sorts. She has had a runny nose for on average 15-20 days a month (maybe longer my notes aren't exact) for the past 5 months. We have been to the dr 3 times since February because she is just not herself. Once she was wheezing so they said because it was the start of RSV and to expect a high fever in a day or so....no fever of any kind came. Just runny nose and cough with heavy quick breathing. I took her back a week later and they said it was a sinus infection and gave her an antibiotic. The antibiotic cleared up the runny nose, but she stopped taking it on a Saturday (after 10 days) and the runny nose/cough came back on Sunday morning. Also, after she took the antibiotic for a couple of days she was starting to act like herself and I thought "good this is finally over".
She is clingy, fussy, cries often/easily, gets very tired after playing and wants to sit in my lap for 20-30 minutes to "rest". She is not acting like herself. She won't let me out of her sight and most days will not play independently for even 2 minutes or even get out of my lap for longer than a few minutes. Whereas before, she would play independently for 10-15 minutes often several times throughout the day (she always has been this way even as a newborn...except now) and she was never a lap baby even before she could sit or walk she wanted down to play. She is 20 months old and it seems like with my normal adult energy I can run laps around her instead of the other way around. Every time I talk to the dr. they say "it's just a cold". I feel like at this point it is possibly more than a cold. I also feel like that crazy mom who "just wants meds". I don't want meds I just want her to feel better. I know I need to talk to a dr, but mine just keeps giving me the run around. Does anyone have any suggestions (other than change dr because I am already looking into that)? Is this normal?

Notes:
Have you considered that is may be allergies? Sometimes the symptoms can mimic a cold and mild cough, especially if they are ongoing.
You could try eliminating dairy (or at least milk) for a week or so, to see if that clears it up. It works
