DD is 2 weeks old and hates her bassinet. ?I try putting her in it for naps or when she is in a deep sleep, but she ?always wakes up about 10 minutes after I put her in it. ?So far I have been sleeping sitting on the couch with her on my chest and she'll sleep for hours at a time. I'm starting to miss my bed though. Any suggestions on how ?I can transition her to the bassinet?
Also, whenever I swaddle her, she fights it and tries to kick her way out. Does this mean I'm just not doing a good job (I have a swaddle me wrap) or that she doesn't like being swaddled?
Re: sleep help
My dd hated sleeping in the bassinet at that age so we let her sleep in her swing or carseat and she slept great there. My daughter loved and hated being swaddled. She like the tightness but was always trying to get her hands out - she would grunt all night trying to get them out (it was kind of comical) so we just started swaddling her arms out and that did the trick.
Your dd is so young do not worry about the bassinet yet. Right now she needs good sleep.
At that age we were trying something different every other night to get DD to sleep. She HATED her bassinet, we put it away the 3rd day home. Mostly she slept with us in bed, on us, or in her bouncy seat. I would suggest trying different things. Have you tried the swing?
For naps DD would only nap when I held her but that does pass and then you miss it:( My DD now STTN in her crib and has for about the past month and a half.
Also, not all babies like being swaddled. DD hated it right from the start so we never used it. If you want to use the swaddle try it with keeping her arms out, maybe she'll like that better.
My DD hated being swaddled for the first month or so. Try doing what PP suggested, and if she's flailing her arms and waking herself up, try swaddling w/arms in every once in a while to see if she likes it yet.
I slept on the couch for the first 3 weeks of dd's life. It was what she wanted/needed, and so I did it. What about her sleeping with you? Otherwise, try the car seat, swing, etc...where they sleep isn't as important as just getting some sleep (for you too!!)
You'll find what works.
