? For those who use gdiapers or other similar cloth

I know there's a cloth diaper board but I am posting here because I know a lot of you ladies use cloth and love it. I am seriously considering switching to cloth once I am out of all the diapers I got as gifts prebaby. I was doing some research and interested in the gdiapers because of the hybrid quality of flush able inserts.

However my DH who will be home with baby a lot when I go back to work is hesitant about the whole idea. Are they easy to use? I am confused a little too about using them as traditional cloth diaper systems. Also, how many do you think I would need to start out with? TIA!

We have a cloth diaper check in that I posted at the same time as you. I think a few ladies use gdiapers on here, and our theme this week is about brands of diapers you love and hate. Maybe some of the responses will be helpful to you as you make your decision.

  • In my opinion (a relative newbie to cloth diapering), bumgenius 4.0 are the best. They are a pocket type and I think better than fuzzibuns, which is more difficult to stuff. The flip system is cool because it has a variety of insert options, including a disposable one (biodegradable and supposedly compostable). I use the stayddry insert but bought a package of disposable in case I am out on the town.  My husband loves bumgenius 4.0, freetimes, and fuzzinbuns more than flip because he doesn't have to do anything except put them on. I like flip because I can usually reuse the outer shell at least x2 before washing and that helps the stretch out my stash. I do all the laundry because I really want my husband to get comfortable with cloth so I am easing him into it :)  I do a load everyday but need to buy some more diapers to make it every other day. I have: 4 bumgen. 4.0, 2 bumgenius freetimes (awesome during the night but super bulky), 4 flip shells with 8 inserts, and 2 fuzzibuns. I just ordered 4 more bumgen. 4.0s. I look at cottonbabies.com for seconds sales all the time.

I never tried gdiapers but heard some negative reviews

  • Haven't tried that brand but I'd say buy one or two and try it out if you're interested.  If you don't like them you can sell them.

  • We use kawaiis and I find they are no more difficult than disposables. My husband was very hesitant (saying he wouldn't use them) however he even thinks they are better/easier than disposables. We had numerous blow-outs with the disposables but have only had one in the 6 weeks we've been using cloth (and that was due to human error not getting the diaper on tight enough).
