How often do you communicate with your therapists, particularly ones that you don't see face-to-face (i.e. if your child sees them as pull-out services during the day). How often do you email or contact regular teachers?
I have no problem contacting teachers when DS is having a hard time with something or going through a phase that needs to be addressed. But I sometimes feel very uneasy because on a day-to-day basis I never really know what's going on. In order to find out what he's doing in private or public school therapy, I have to email and fish around for details. They will respond specifically if there's a problem, but sometimes, like now, we're not really going through any big problems, and I still want to know what's going on. Obviously. What do your therapists do to keep you apprised of day-to-day things? I talked to our dev. pedi about this and he encouraged me to request homework from the therapists. They have occasionally, when I ask for something specific, given me handouts. But they are pretty basic and general and honestly I've received better advice from Auntie. I only receive "homework" when they do reevals for insurance, and it'll be really lame like "spin DS in an office chair for stimulation".
I'm also curious how it will work next year with kindy. How often should I check in with his new teacher? Or ASD pull-out teacher? By observation on this board I feel like I've seen a wide range of involvement.
