Baby Names

Aaliyah

As an bi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-faith family, its important that my daughters name is racially and cultural ambiguous. How's Aaliyah? Background: Our sons name is Zachariah.

Re: Aaliyah

  • I think it's pretty. I just had to think about it before pronouncing it. I've met an Aliyana and loved the name, so it's kind of similar.

  • Aaliyah is really beautiful but it's pretty clearly an Arabic name, so I wouldn't call it ambiguous.

  • I think it's nice and makes a good sibset with your DS.
  • I think it's pretty. I do automatically think of the singer though.

    I was thinking this too.

To me culturally ambiguous names are names like Anna, Maria, Claire.  Those are names you see in many different cultures.

    FWIW, I do like Aaliyah.

  • Aaliyah is not a cultural ambiguous name imo.
