Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Toys

Hello.

I am planning to attend a baby sale this week and am looking for some toys that your older children seem to really enjoy now that they are growing.  My son is 9 months old and is quickly becoming bored of his "baby" toys.  We are moving away frm the rattles and play mats.  He is already standing and crusing on the furniture.  I'm hoping blocks, balls and puzzles are in our future.  Just curious what your thoughts are.

Thanks!

Re: Toys

  • My 18 month old is obsessed with balls, it's all he ever plays with.  We have some Mega blocks that he'll play with from time to time, and he really doesn't have any interest in puzzles yet.  I would look for an activity table, maybe see if you can find a water table for the summer?

  • Blocks, books, little people, puppets (finger and hand), and she absolutely loves the ball pit (see siggy). We also have a nylon tunnel from Ikea and she has had a lot of fun with that.

  • My son is 15 months and he loves puzzles, books, cars and trucks, and any type of ball.  Puppets are also a big hit and anything Little People.

  • DS is obsessed with any sort of ball. He also really likes his Fisher Price Little People farm.

  • All of what you said are great, and you'll probably get a lot of use with them. LO is loving all of those now. Also, he loves cars/trucks/trains as well. He has some tonka trucks he enjoys pushing around, Thomas wooden railway he loves, and any vehicle really. Also obsessed with music and books, and anything with a button that makes music or lights up. We have a mini hoop and soft basketball he likes to dunk on too. Oh...and classically See and Say. Have fun!

  • My DS is totally "meh" about Little People.

He loves anything with wheels (trains especially, since they link together), books (especially interactive ones with buttons and sound), balls, and push toys (corn popper, shopping carts, lawn mower, etc)

At 9 months, DS really loved his activity table.  He liked pulling up and standing by it to play with it.

  • Thanks, all. This is great. A water table was definitely on my list for his birthday in May.
  • Oh, and as far as books...ones with flaps and peekaboo books are what he prefers and loves.
