Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Anyone else have a sweaty baby?

DD is almost 7 months and is constantly sweaty, to the point where I give her a bath everyday because she gets stinky. She is EBF and after she is done nursing my arm in wet and her hair is dripping. I am going to ask the doctor about it, just wondering if anyone else has the same problem?

  • You need to discuss this with your pediatrician asap.  I hate to scare you, but this is the main sign for a heart condition. Please have an echocardiogram done as soon as possible, this is the main sign for heart failure in babies.

I'm speaking from experience since my little one has a heart condition.  Before his surgery, he would sweat bullets during feedings, and that was his only symptom, other than that you'd never know there was anything wrong with him.

There are many congenital heart conditions that go undiagnosed at birth, and it sounds to me that this is a very real possibility for your baby if she is sweating during nursing.

I pray to God that isn't the case, but if it is, your kiddo will be ok, she just may need the problem fixed.

Please update us once you have this checked out.

  • My LO is also EBF and is a sweaty baby.  Our pedi had said some babies sweat more than others and for the most part it's normal.  DS sweats somewhat during feeding but mostly at night.  He usually wakes up all sweaty down his back and around his neck.  I also have a cousin who's son was sweaty up until he was a toddler.  I would definitely bring it up with your doctor to make sure there is nothing serious going on just in case.  I'm sure all is OK and good luck!
  • Same here! Super sweaty little one. He tends to run a little warm in general. When I was on the 0-3 month board I remember everyone asking how they kept their baby warm at night and the responses were "a onsie under jammies in a sleep bag"...I was like "Really?! My baby is sleeping in a onsie! Sometimes!"

I spoke to my pedi and she said he is just a warm little body. Ask yours just to be safe, but each baby is different.
