Schedules & Time Change

Just an appology ahead of time if this has already been posted.

I was just curious for those of you that have your LOs on a day to day schedule, how are you preceding since the time change. For instance, DS goes to bed at 7-7:30 (before time change). How are you all handeling bed times? Does your LO go to bed at 7-7:30 regardless of the fact that that would have been 6-6:30 last week, or are you allowing them to stay up until 8-8:30? For some reason this change really has me thrown off...

Re: Schedules & Time Change

  • Mine are not on that strict a schedule, but I put DD down at 7 last night and she went to sleep, then woke up at 7 this morning so I guess she's adjusted fine.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

  • We are a hour behind for bedtime and he just kind of switch himself for everything else. He hasn't been able ti fall asleep at 8 its 9 now so we have just been trying to start bedtime at 8 still and maybe soon he will get back on schedule
  • We allowed him to stay up until 8pm last night which worked out fine, he went to bed without a peep and slept until 8 this morning. I am just a little concerned that if we keep that the routine, then come the fall he will be used to a 8pm bedtime and getting him to bed at what would be 7 then would be difficult. Also, I am not too thrilled with an 8pm bedtime as I am pregnant, work full time and am going to school. 7pm works better because it gives me some time to get things done (homework, relax, workout, clean the house) before I go to bed at 10....

  • My DD usually goes to bed around 6:30-7 so I'm looking forward to the time change!  She went down at 7:30 tonight and hopefully she'll sleep until about 6:30 because she used to wake a little after 5:30.  I'd like to keep her on the later schedule for several reasons... it makes nighttime routine much better.  I don't get home until 5-5:30 and then only have an hour with her before it's time for bed.  Then her getting up around 5:30 is waaayyy too early for me.  I hope she sticks with the new routine, but I have a feeling that she'll be back to her 6:45 bedtime before long.

This wasn't an issue for us.  DD slept in a little yesterday, but the rest of the world is still functioning the same today.  We got up at the same time, left at the same time, she ate lunch at the same time, napped at the same time, and went to bed at the same time.
You are right! I don't know why I was overthinking this so much! After I posted this I realized, that I still get up at the same time and I still go to bed at the same time although I am a little extra tired today. It will take some getting used to but definatley not a reason to reorganize our schedule. Anyway, I guess I just needed to see it in writing in order to clarify it for myself. DS is now fed, cleaned and in bed at his regular bed time so we'll see how it goes!

  • He didn't seem to even notice there was a change.  He was going to bed at 8 before and waking up at 7-8.  I thought we would have more adjustment issues, but he seems to sticking to his normal schedule.

  • The 1st day everything was pushed back an hour, but he's already adjusted back to his normal times for everything, with the exception of sleeping maybe an extra 15mins or so in the morning, and sometimes staying up 15 mins later before bed.
