I just found out that my son (21 mo) needs an inhaler. Anyone have any experience with little ones and asthma? I've used an inhaler, but I'm trying to wrap my head around administering it to a toddler.
Our pulmo prefers using a nebulizer for a variety of reasons (one of which is most toddlers cannot properly use an inhaler even with a spacer). What med is your child on?
The newest and ever changing line of thinking is an inhaler is more effective then neb with little kids because it is quicker. DS2 has a maintenance inhaler and 2 rescue. We use them with a spacer. Do you have a pulmonologist? They should have given you a sheet to give you direction on when to use and how often. It is usually green, yellow and red light. DS2 is really good about using them since he knows he breaths better with them. Only once in awhile it is a fight.
