My plan was an all natural vbac for this baby. By 39 wks I was so, so ready for this baby to come. Would have cramps and timetable contractions for hours but then they would stop. At 39wks 1d we had sex for the first time in ages, and I was positive it would send me into labor. It did! I was 3cms 80% that day, and at 11:30 pm I started having timetable and painful contractions. They were 2-4 mins apart right from the beginning. I decided to try to sleep in case this was the real thing. I woke up at 2:30 with much more intense contractions, staying 2-3 mins apart. I worked through them until 6 am when I couldn't talk or walk through them anymore. I woke DH up and told him to call his Mom to get DD. She couldn't come for 45 mins, and it was a long, long wait. I was moaning through contractions and doing good staying focused. DH cooked some eggs and we both ate, then MIL arrived and took DD. I ran to the bathroom and threw up like I have never puked before. My underwear felt damp, but I figured it was just pee. We got the car loaded and headed to the hospital. I was having a very hard I've staying focused and breathing through the contractions by then, and we hit every freaking red light AND got behind a damn school bus! It was like something from a movie, lol. At 8:00 am we finally got to l&d and I was at 4 cms, 100% effaced. Yes! Then we were stuck in triage for 2 hrs because all the doctors were delivering. I was completely out of focus, crying and yelling nd cursing through each contraction. I told the nurse and DH that I wanted the epidural ASAP. Finally at 10 we got a room, the doc on call laid out all the risks of a vbac and made sure I knew I could have a c/s at any point. He was Debbie downer, but I didn't care. I got the epi and laid down. Almost immediately I felt pressure. The nurse said I was at 6 now. The doc came back to break my water and found it was already broken. DS started having decals with each contraction so they put an internal monitor and did an amnio infusion. He was fine then. By noon I was 9.5, by 1 I was complete and he was at +2. We labored him down to +3, I was having to breathe through the pressure in my bottom and consciously not push. At 2pm I started pushing, almost immediately the doc wanted to use the vacuum. I refused. He seemed to be having trouble coming down and staying, and so we used a towel. The nurse held one end and I held the other. The next push I pushed and pulled on the towel, we all heard a loud popping sound. It felt like my tailbone had broken and DS shot forward and stayed. It took about 30 mins more to get him out, the doc wanted to do an episiotomy and I refused. Finally at 3:39 after 2 hrs 39 mins pushing he was born! 7 lbs 15 ozs and 21"!!! He cried immediately and we did skin to skin. I had a big 2nd degree tear that took ages to stitch. It was the most amazing experience of my life. I still can't believe I did it! The first thing I said when I held him is 'I'm not broken!!' The doc who did my c/s said I would never be able to deliver vaginally and was such a jerk about it. There is no comparison between the c/s birth and this one. Despite the tailbone pain I feel amazing! I highly recommend a vbac. Sorry no paragraphs, I'm on my iPad and it sucks, lol.
