Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Not feeling good or just "spoiled"?

It's been about 3 weeks now that my 4mo old son has been extremely fussy. Lots of times even when he's being held...and I end up holding him most of the day unless he's sleeping because I hate to hear him fuss too much. I have had trouble with food allergies dairy and wheat, so I was wondering if something is bothering his tummy I'm exclusively pumping. I've not been good about staying away from dairy or wheat lately. Yesterday, we went to church and then to my inlaw's and Baby was happy all afternoon, even without his normal nap! He was getting attention most of the time. Now...how do I decide if something is hurting him or if he just needs more attention? I do want him to get the attention he needs, but I do have other things to get done too. He usually only takes 3060 minute naps through the day. My MIL thinks it's just a stage...my mom thinks it's food sensitivity. Opinions, please? TIA

  • If you don't already- I would highly suggest baby-wearing around the house so you can get at least a few chores done. This literally saved my sanity a couple months ago.

Also have him sit near you while you're doing something and talk out loud to him so he hears your voice and sees what you're doing. I fold and put away laundry, make the bed, pick up the living room, load/ unload the dishwasher, and sweep the floors while he sits in his high chair watching me. I talk to him and sing songs and pause every few minutes to give him a kiss and smile. I know it's hard to divide your attention through the day and it took me a long time to figure it out.

It could be either a phase or a food sensitivity. It's hard to say. BUT. At 4ish or even 5 or 6 months of age? Your baby is not spoiled. If he's asking for attention, then give him attention. The chores can wait. Your baby will not stay little forever.

    This!  Especially the last part.
