DS has been wearing long sleeve 2 piece pjs, socks and a fleece sleep sack for bed for awhile now. But as I am looking around for new pjs (he's almost outgrown his current ones), it seems like there are a lot of short sleeve and short bottom options since summer is coming up.
I've got some cotton sleep sacks for summer, but am wondering if short sleeve pjs will keep him warm enough at night? It just seems to me that since that's what I'm mostly seeing in stores that short sleeves must be the norm during summer. I can't cover him with a blanket (he just throws them out of his crib).
Do you use short sleeve or long sleeve pjs in the summer?
Re: Summer pjs?
I think last summer we put DS in light pants and a t-shirt for bed, with or without socks depending on the weather. We don't do official pj sets, but rather just consider the temperature in the house and outside and adjust his clothing as necessary each night.
Right now we're doing either sweatshirts or long-sleeve shirts with either fleece pants or regular pants, with or without socks. We'll probably use a light long-sleeved shirt and light pants in the early spring, then transition to t-shirts and maybe shorts as it gets warmer.
It really depends on where they're sleeping. If we're someplace with no A/C in the bedrooms they sleep in shorts/shirts PJs or just a t-shirt and diaper. If we're home, where we have central air, I put them in lightweight long sleeve PJs, or short sleeve PJ's with pants.
I do kind of judge what they wear by the individual child - DD1 stays under her blankets and just gets super warm in general when she sleeps, so I pretty much let her choose whatever she wants to wear to bed year round (except fleece in summer). DD2 doesn't yet stay under the blankets, doesn't run as warm as her sister, and her room tends to get cooler, so I dress her a little more warmly.

Our air conditioning is usually set around 71-72 in the summer. I will probably have him wear cotton pants and a tshirt, if I can find them (I have 2 sets like this that are hand-me-down).
