Parenting after a Loss

Day Light Savings

Has your LO's sleep schedule been effected at all by the time change?  DS had his 6 month shots on Friday afternoon.  That combined with teething and the time change has made the past few days rough.  He's STTN ok but I'm lucky if he gets a 20 minute nap in before he wakes up crying.  When he's awake he's miserable and I am exhausted.  He was on a pretty consistent schedule of waking around 6:30am, nap around 9am and 1pm and then a 20-30 min cat nap around 430-5.  Now it's all over the place.  How is everyone else doing?

Re: Day Light Savings

  • We haven't been affected by it. Probably because my LO is only 9 weeks and we aren't really into a schedule yet. Plus he only takes 30 minutes naps so.

Hope your DS gets back into his routine soon!

  • We are doing a lot better than I anticipated actually. The last couple ones have been a little challenging, not too terrible, but this one was super easy and I have no idea why. No interrupted sleep over here. I call it luck.

  • We had a bad expereince last time so we did a ridiculous amount of advance planning (started scooting his bedtime back in increments over a week ago) and it was okay last night, but DS is always has been a crappy inconsistent napper (presently that means one nap of 20 mins - 2 hours depending on factors we cannot understand). We put him down and he was out by 7:30 last night, and I woke him up this morning at 7 - he is usually up between 6 and 6:15 without fail and I suspect he will adjust accordingly tonight.

So, we are hoping the overnight sleep is covered...we will see as the week goes on...

  • L went to bed late, I tried to bump him up to the time change but it didn't work out, he rolled in bed until his internal clock hit bedtime and had to get up early for DC and wasn't too pleased about it. I think things will even out throughout the week, maybe even to bed at reg time tonight.

  • I am not a fan of the DST. I like the longer days and all of that, but I hate the switch. Pip usually sleeps 8 - 6:30, so we were all excited to "technically" sleep-in until 7:30 on Sunday - but nope, she was awake at 6. She had a nice 2 hour nap during the day, but when it was bed time she completely fought it and didn't get to sleep until about 8:30. And you know what - she was completely wired all afternoon - it was like someone gave her speed or something - very, very hyper. She slept on and off all night, her cuspids are coming in - poor thing. She woke up crying at 6:15, but DH went in an held her and she fell back asleep - so we let her sleep until 7:30. I'm hoping she'll adjust a little more tonight - whe's usually pretty flexible - but man, I wish we could just switch once and be done and it's a lot more fun to gain an hour!
