Buy Buy Baby Registry?

So, I've been carefully avoiding my registries so I can be somewhat surprised at my shower...  but a friend of mine persuaded me to take a quick look.  I registered at Buy Buy Baby and absolutely love the items on my list.  I only added items while I was in the store, so I could see everything in person.

My friend called me yesterday to ask if I really wanted two different duck shaped bath thermometers... I told her I had only registered for one.  She said, "Well, you'd better double check!"  When I checked my registry, I saw that the one I had registered for was not purchased... but a different one was suddenly on my list and fulfilled.  There were some other items on there as well - different swaddler things, some outfits (PINK - we are gender neutral!), and a few other small items.  Some of these are listed as completely fulfilled... others were listed as "1/2 fulfilled" so I removed the duplicate.  I'm especially worried about the pink stuff... because if guests saw that, they might think we're having a girl and buy other pink things.

BuyBuyBaby hasn't responded via e-mail yet, but on the phone I only got "Sorry, there must have been a mix up".

Anyone else have any issues with this??

  • I haven't noticed that, but I am annoyed that I can't find a way to mark something as purchased.  I have to  delete it entirely if I get a gift from somewhere else.

  • Items people purchase on their own and then tell the cashier your name go on your registry.
  • This happened to me with my bridal registry and again now.  When someone pulls up your registry in the store and then chooses to buy items that aren't on your registry, the store will often place the item on your registry and show it as purchased, not requested.  I have a couple of things on my BBB registry like that now.  I am not sure if BRU puts non-registry items on your registry when people purchase them.  I felt really bad because my friend bought me the items I registered for and then another lady bought them as well but not off my registry (from another store).

If you're worried about the pink stuff, just remove them from your registry.  It shouldn't do anything because they've already been purchased.

This.  I would keep them on your registry too b/c i think (this is just my gut) it will make it easier to return them if you need too.

  • I haven't looked at ours, but I know when i went to get a friend of ours a gift at BBB, I had bought some of candy and a bag of pretzels. When I looked later at her registry, the item I bought her was fulfilled and the candy and pretzels I also bought were listed on her registry.

  • I'm just wondering if there is an option for items bought from BBB online to be sent to the buyers house so they can wrap and bring it to the shower instead of shipped directly to me.  My mother asked me this the other day and I wasn't sure. Anyone know the answer?

(I just posted about this on the Baby Shower board as well)

This. What's funny is I actually knew who purchased some of the items on DSs registry because they bought items for their DDs when they were in there.  All kind's of funny stuff will pop up on your BBB registry as fulfilled.  You'll also find out about gifts you didn't register for-like clothes & gift sets. So much for a surprise.

if you call them they will change it. My MIL got our car seat cheaper on amazon. She called BBB and they changed it to "purchased" for her.

  • And yes. If someone buys something off the registry and has them scan the registry it will add it.  I have cards and gift bags on mine now.  Lol
