Re: Major anxiety.. about to "try"

  • We all have fears and I'm not sure you can ever fully be ready. I love watching childbirth videos but what makes me kinda weird is viewing videos of the baby moving in there it looks so strange to me

I think the motivation should be the reward you receive from any pain you may have to experience

  • I get that you're scared, but most moms I know say that by the time you're 9 months pregnant you'll be happy to get the labor over with because of all the other uncomfortable stuff . Remember that the "hard" part normally doesn't last for more than 7 hours. So you know it doesn't last forever. My friends also say that the labour is just the last thing between you and meeting your child so you "kind" of look forward to it.

I wish you a lot of luck :)

  • OP, I have anxiety issues also and the thought of needles and pregnancy does freak me out a bit.  One of my favorite quotes that my psychology professor told me in grad school is: "Change the way you look at your situation, and your situation changes".  Meaning that if you think of pregnancy as being scary, then it is scary and will be an unpleasant time for you.  If you think of pregnancy as a chance for you to be involved in the miracle of your own child's birth, you will see this experience as rewarding and positive.  Change the way you think - anxiety is all in your mind.
  • Hi, I'm 33 and we are also just now ttc for the first time.  Yeah, it's hard to know when is the right time but if you keep waiting for the perfect time then it will never come.

Perhaps this will be the encouragement that your hubby needs to get some projects done.  Sometimes it helps to have a deadline with reachable goals such as let's paint the living room before April and then the first weekend in April let's have a dinner party. Try and think one step at a time and specifics like "let's fix that squeaky door" instead of "let's finish all our remodeling projects".

As for fear of needles, labor and vomiting- I'm afraid of those too!  So just know you are not alone.  There are plenty of people who have overcome those fears or at least learned to deal with them for the time needed. And remember, just try and take one day at a time. :)
