What determines newbie/bronze/silver/gold/platinum poster? How are "points" calculated? I saw someone who has about the same amount of posts as me, but a LOT more points. WTF? I've been here since April 2011 and I'm still a newbie.

I believe 501 is bronze and 2001 is silver.  I think gold is 5001, but I can't remember.  The points mean nothing and are for nothing.  I don't know how the are accrued.

This. OP, the reason might be because you get more points when people quote your post. So say your home board is very active, and you post a GTKY thread. Everyone quotes the OP and then she gets more points (I think 15) every time.

I think Gold is actually 6001 and platinum is 20,001. I don't pay attention to the points.
