not talking

sorry for the double post, but DD's got me so frustrated lately.  She sees her grandparents and relatives often, about once a week.  She's always been friendly and talkative.  She went through a bit of the terrible 2s with us, but had still always been pleasant with others.  The past few weeks she has been great for me and DH.  We're dealing with other things like when she gets upset she'll tell us we're not her friend anymore, or she'll stick her tongue out, but nothing like some of the tantrums she's had in the past.  However, she is totally ignoring most other adults.  My parents or inlaws talk to her and she doesn't respond at all.  I asked her today if she wanted my parents to go to her birthday party (she'll be 3 in 2 weeks) and she said no, only my sister, who is the only adult she'll really talk to.  I feel bad, our families love her and want to have fun with her, and she's been so sweet I wish everyone could see it.  Anyone else's LOs do this?

Re: not talking

  • Is she tired when she's acting like this?  My DD gets really crabby and stubborn when she's tired and I can see her acting like this(ignoring people, etc.).

My oldest DD went through a phase like that.  She didn't want to talk to anyone and she would hide when people came to our house to visit.  I didn't want to force anything or stress her out about it so I kind of let her go and she has grown out of it now.  She's very social now and loves to talk to everyone.
