My little man is 10mo, and I've been dairy and soy free since he was 4 wks. We haven had him tested for a true allergy, but he's definitely intolerant to milk and soy. Maybe more since he still spits up a couple times a day at this age and retires Zantac.
Anyway, a few days ago I accidentally had 1/2 cup of soy milk. Within 4 hours he had mucus poop and streaks of blood. He's had 45 loose BMs per day since then. His eczema flared. He hasn't been fussy, which I'm thankful for. I feel awful enough for not being vigilant.
So since he's 10mo, I suspect the chance of his MSPI magically disappearing in 2mo is low. I'm very willing to do extended BF, but won't get regular time to pump at work.
So what have you ladies done when kids hit 12mo and are still MSPI? Nurse morning and evening and thus enough milk? With water the rest of the day? Try another milk alternative? I'm concerned about fat content. Advice?
Re: MSPI at one?
My DS is just about to turn one. I have a pretty good freezer stash that I plan on using for him, as I won't be pumping at work anymore either. I will nurse morning and night, and then use the frozen milk.
At the suggestion of my pedi, at 11.5 months I started to introduce dairy/soy back into my diet slowly to see how he tolerates it. So far so good. But I'm having like 1 meal every three days with dairy or soy as an ingredient. If all continues to be okay then I will introduce it to him, but likely not until I I can eat a piece of cheese pizza and he's fine the next day.
From my experience don't give up hope about his MSPI improving in 2 months. I accidently ate soy sauce when DS was 10 months and it was extremely obvious the next day. A month and a half later he seems to be (so far) handling it better. Also my DS is on Zantac also and his spitting up seems to be getting better also.
After 4 years, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs our surprise miracle is here!
