Food Allergy

new here, new to this

My almost 5 yr old DD just tested positive for dairy, gluten, and egg allergies.  We started a 6 week elimination today.  I didn't expect to be so sad and emotional about it.  It was just so frustrating at the store because everything seems to contain one of those.  She is being such an amazing trooper about this.  Not arguing, not whining, and really recognizing the parameters we need to work within.  I'm finding it pretty easy to plan dinners, but am at a loss for everything else.  She won't eat nuts or most meat.  She's picky about her veggies.  We tried vanilla almond milk today and she didn't like it.   What do I feed her for breakfast?  I got some GF oatmeal at Trader Joe's, and GF vegan frozen waffles.  Like many families we are always rushed in the morning.  I teach and she's in school so we need to be out the door by 7:30.  Lunches.... I guess I can do PB&J on the buckwheat bread I got at the bakery,  but again would like to have some more options.  Any words of advice or support would be very welcome.  I don't know why I am so incredibly sad about this.  I was ok over the past week thinking, reading and planning this transition.  The grocery trip this morning just knocked me into a funk I'm having trouble getting out of.  Thanks

  • I hear ya...DD is allergic to dairy. All I could think about when we figured it out was what she couldn't have. It can be frustrating trying to plan a variety of meals for her. I have found a bunch of recipes on Pinterest that are fairly easy. We got DD a whey free protein powder for the days we were rushed. Will your  DD do a shake with almond milk in the morning?
