Is this normal??

Hi girlies,

I had my first IUI this past Wednesday and it was literally pain free and over and done with within a few minutes. I was told that i had to go back in after 2 weeks for a blood test.

I had a little cramping the night of the iui but thats it. Now all of a sudden i feel as though something hurts in my lower abdomen when i take a deep breath....could this have anything to do with the iui?

Also i am getting the normal pimples i usually do before i get my period...could this be a sign that the IUI was not successful. I was so hopeful the time leading up to the IUI but because i have been ttc for so long i just cannot seem to think positive any more.

I know for a fact that IUI's are not usually sucessful the first time round but now i am thinking that maybe we should have opted straight for IVF. My RE is the one that suggested having the IUI...i don;t know why but i am feeling so down right now!

So sorry you are feeling so down.  I would definitely call your doctor and tell them what you are feeling in your abdomen.  It seems like it would be too soon for implantation problems (i.e. ectopic), but you could have an infection or something that they would want to know about and treat ASAP.  Not trying to scare you or anything, I just think it would be wise to call.  Hopefully it's nothing though!

As far as pimples, did you do a trigger shot?  If so, I would imagine you would get some weird hormonal symptoms from that.  I just triggered Thursday for the first time, but I think it's too soon for me to have weird symptoms yet.  So I'm not sure, just seems like the hCG boost would cause things like that.  So don't let it discourage you!  Try to keep your spirits up.... I think it's still too early to think it didn't work.

Oh, and also... I've noticed a lot of ladies on the bump who have gotten a bfp with their first IUI.  So it does happen!

I hope your IUI did the trick and you get great news in a week or so!

After a year of TTC unsuccessfully my first IUI resulted in my DD. For TTC #2 my first IUI also resulted in pregnancy, but unfortunately I m/c'd. So...it definitely can happen the first time!

With DD I was convinced I was getting AF because I had cramps, break-outs, etc just like I did every month of a BFN. Early pregnancy symptoms can be identical to PMS symptoms, so you never know.

I had quite a bit of cramping all through my 2ww for all of my iui's. Also, are you on progesterone? That always makes me breakout!

Thanks for the kind words ladies. The cramping has gone...just a few more days of the the 2ww left. My period is technically due on Monday, i am suppose to go back for the blood test Wednesday....

rcvacywife---i am not taking anything. This cycle consisted only of a trigger shot and the iui.

Now my boobs are sore...i hope this isn't another sign that my period is coming.

This whole thing is so stressful.
