High-Risk Pregnancy

possible pre e

New here, are any ladies dealing with this? I was seen last week and was told I was measuring behind and needed another ultra sound. I'll be 32 weeks Tuesday but I'm only measuring around 25. My feet have been swollen beyond belief and I haven't worn my wedding ring in at least a, month due to swelling. The doc it's concerned about it being pre e and I have to get tons of blood work done. My heart rate isn't high necessarily but it's been on the rise. It's normally 95 over 60 last appt it was 120 over 95. Any suggestions on what I should do? Do I start worrying now or wait till my results come in? Is there anything I can do?

Re: possible pre e

  • I had preeclampsia with my first pregnancy, that was not diagnosed until after I delivered and had a lot of complications.  It isn't something to take lightly--don't delay in getting your bloodwork done because it's a disease that can move quickly.  I also have naturally low BP, and it never went above the range that is considered high for most people--that's one reason why I believe they missed diagnosing it.  Are they having you do a 24-hour urine collection?

That said, there isn't much they can do about it except monitor you closely, and maybe give you magnesium.  It usually results in early induction.

Good luck, it's a good sign that your physician is considering it and it's on his/her radar as a possibility.

  • Thanks. 24 hour urine collection is underway as we speak.
  • Try to rest as much as possible (lay on your left side) until you get your results. My BP also normally ran on the low side so it was rising but wasn't really alarming anyone. By the time they caught my pre-e it had developed to HELLP. (my story is in my blog). Try to take it really easy. Hopefully if they catch it in time some bedrest intervention will get you further along.

  • Thanks for the advice. I didn't even know what it was until I needed to be tested for it. I really appreciate the input
