Question re: baby position

I'm 28 weeks, and baby is transverse.  I know there's still lots of time for baby to flip, but it's actually really uncomfortable, and I've been hoping baby would flip to relieve some of the discomfort.  I've been doing the daily spinning babies pregnancy exercises, but I haven't tried any of the slightly more intense positions (inversions, releases) to flip the baby because it feels too early.  If I get baby to flip now, there's probably a big chance that it'll flip back to transverse because there's still lots of room in there, right?

Re: Question re: baby position

  • Have you talked to your provider? They might have some ideas. I would also consider going to a chiropractor who specializes in the Webster Technique.

  • I posted almost the exact same question about 2months ago, when I was 28weeks and my LO was transverse. I followed everyone's suggestions and just did a couple of gentle exercises from the spinning babies website, and by my next appointment my baby was head down. I'm almost 37 weeks and she or he has stayed in that position. I would definitely not recommend doing anything invasive like an inversion at this point. It's way too early. My midwife told me she wouldn't even start to be concerned until I was at the 34 week mark, anyway. Good luck and I hope your baby flips!

  • An inversion is not an external version. Wink Doing the inversion on the daily exercises from spinning babies isn't going to hurt anything, and doing it daily gives things a chance to stretch and make room.

Baby might move again, but if you get to be more comfortable for a while that alone is worth it.

You're absolutely right! Lol I realized what the OP was talking about after I posted my reply. OP, ignore my earlier suggestion about not doing inversions!

  • I'm at 33 weeks and my baby is frank breach. I have my first chiro appointment tomorrow to try the webster technique, and have also been recommended to an acupuncturist and the spinning baby exercises. I also heard swimming helps - which might be a good activity for you that's not too invasive if you're not comfortable going upside down. My doctor also says she believes in the power of body and mind, so think lots of positive flipping thoughts!
