Babies: 6 - 9 Months

So mad

So my dd is 6 months and just started sleeping in her crib this week. Night 4. The first and third night she STTN, which is a first. The second night she only woke once to eat. She's also been napping in her crib great. She fusses a little and sometimes I comfort her if I feel she needs it, but she's usually asleep within 10 minutes of going down. I'm so proud of her! Tonight she was searching for her paci for 10 min, i have a video monitor, and i felt really bad for her so I asked DH to go give her paci to her. He flipped out and told me she can cry it out and we shouldn't go in there after we put her to bed. Our pedi told us to let her CIO even in the MOTN without feeding her or comforting her and I want to at least check on her if I feel she needs it. We just got in a huge fight and I'm feeling so angry right now at him. He doesn't give me or LO credit! Am I crazy or is DH being a twat?

  • Just because the pedi says it does not mean that it is written in stone.  You are the parent, you can check on your baby if you feel the need.

    Completely agree.
  • I've read that developmentally speaking babies don't fear the dark. That comes later. Better to cry in the dark and have z chance of falling asleep than cry in the light and be stimulated by all the sights,
  • Your pediatrician sees your baby for ten minutes every few months. I wouldn't call his or her advice the law when it comes to your child. You know your baby...if you think she needs to be checked on, check on her.

You and your H need to be on the same page though. I would sit him down and tell him youre not comfortable with straight CIO. Whatever method you choose, you both have to be consistent.

I tried. He said I can do it my way but he doesn't support it and won't help. That's fine. Just wish he'd give me some credit and support.
