UTI?

I've never had a UTI so I'm not too familiar with this.  DD was potty trained in June and has gone through stages of how well she does.  The past few days she's asking to go all the time.  We went to a 1/2 hour show at the library and went 3 times, we were at the circus for 2 1/2 hours (past her bed time and she was tiered) and she must have gone 8 times.  Today we had dance, we went before we left, as soon as she got there she had to go, and she left in the middle of class to go, but the bathrooms were full so she went back to class and didn't have an accident.  Tonight we left MILs at 7:30, she went before we left, she went before bed at 8:00, then called me up a 1/2 hour later to go again.

I'm thinking she just wants to avoid what she's doing or to move around, because it isn't all the time.  Do you think I should refuse to take her if she just went, take her when I know she doesn't have to go, or could this be something medical?

Re: UTI?

  • Having to urinate frequently can be a sign of UTI. There are often other signs to: burning with urination, foul odor, dark or cloudy urine, having to go urgently. Someone who has a UTI may have all, some or none of the symptoms. Personally if she was my LO, I would take her to the doctor to rule it out. If I just started telling her no, and not letting her go and then found out she had a UTI I would feel terrible. Also, cranberry juice can help relieve some of the symptoms.
