So Frustrated!

I stopped taking the pill in the middle of January.  I had my last period on February 3.   That would make me 6 days late right?  I took a test today and it said I wasn't pregnant.  I wish either my period would come or I would be pregnant.  All of the symptoms of pregnancy and my "pms" are so similar. It's stressful to play this waiting game.

  • It may be best to wait it out. It could just be late.  One time due to stress mine was 2 weeks late. If your really dying to know, your doctor can give you a blood test. Good luck and hopefully you'll have a BFP!

  • I also had my last period Feb 4th, after my last pill. I still haven't gotten a period either, 5 days late. I also had neg. pregnancy this morning which I expected. From all of my research, it's pretty normal not to have regular periods right after you get off of the pill. I would say if you don't get one after 60 days, then I would check with your doctor. I think anything else can just be the normal adjustment of your body being off of the pill. Good luck :

  • Your body could just still be getting used to coming off of the pill. It can take up to three months, I've been told.
  • If it doesn't show up in another few days I'd go to the doctor and ask for a blood test. I never tested positive on a home test when I got pregnant with my daughter.

When I was TTC DD it took me about 3-4 months to start having normal periods after the pill then I got pregnant the 5th month.

No, bad advice. If she gets to several weeks late (as in 60 days past when AF is expected) then it's time to go to the OB for provera and a blood test. The OP's 6 days late. It's her first cycle coming off BCP. These things happen.

This condition is actually incredibly rare and this is silly advice.  Most doctors (at least the ones who are worth anything) won't see you until you're on cd 60 with a negative pregnancy test.  HOWEVER, all of that being said, coming off BCP is like putting your body through a major withdrawl.  You are coming off a regulated hormone cycle and your body will likely be really screwed up.  I believe my first post BCP cycle was like 75 days.

  • I hear you. My first couple months off the pill I had 33 day cycles. Then last month it just didn't come. 3 BFN later I'm just going to wait it out and hope it works itself out. Before the pill my periods were super screwy and all over the board.

If you make it to 60 days with no period and BFNs, listen to these other women and go see your doctor then. Hopefully it wont get to that!! For either of us!

Boy do the men have it easy!!!

  • Hi, I also stopped taking the pill the middle of January.  I'm really worried about what the affects are going to be for me because I've been on it for the past 13 years and the last two years I've been on a 4 months on/ 1 week off schedule.  Since Jan. I've had two periods, one a few days after I went off the pills and another 30 days later.  I also get PMS symptoms that mimic pregnancy but so far nothing.  From what I understand it takes awhile for your body to get back in the swing of things but some gals do need a little help.  What were your cycles like before you went on the pills?  I've read that it takes at least 3 months to regulate.  And yes, you are right, waiting is hard and stressful.
