Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Relacting

My LO is 4 months now and we are having issues finding a formula that works for him.  We've been through Similac Advanced, Similac Sensitive and are now on Similac Isomil.  He's not a fan of the Isomil and still seems to have issues with tummy troubles.  I nursed exclusively for about 5 weeks and just couldn't handle the stress of the constant feedings and zero sleep, I couldn't eat enough during the day and get enough sleep to get a very good supply.  I'm considering trying to nurse again to see if his tummy is happier with that.  I'm home with him so I have a lot of time that I can devote to this process.  Has anyone tried this or known someone who has?  Successful or unsuccessful?  I would love some thoughts and input on this.  Thanks!!

  • Thank you for posting this! You really got me thinking about trying it myself. Let me know if you find any good resources!
  • A fellow bumpie I "know" is successfully doing it. She's even back at work.

I think the whole idea is awesome! And you are awesome to even consider it! Many many well wishes to you and this journey. I hear it can be quite a struggle, but if it makes your LO feel better, so worth it!

    Good luck!

  • You might want to try posting this on the breastfeeding forum, there are at least 2 ladies currently on there trying to relactate.

  • I can tell you you will never be able to EBF, you will always need to use formula so definetly find one your LO is good with.

That depends on the mom.  I have a friend who EBF her kid up til the kid went on solids and then only gave solids and breastmilk til he was 18months old.

that's quite presumptuous to say to the poster.
if the drive and determination and persistence is there, I bet you can ebf just fine. best of luck to you in relactating!

  • Someone here on the bump posted there relactation blog like a month ago. It was nice following her on her journey. Sorry I don't remember who it was. I don't think everyone relactates as fast as she did but it sure is great motivation.

  • Thank you to everyone for your information and kind words!!  Also, I just noticed that I misspelled my heading for the post, opps! :)  The sources you have all shared look great, I have found some good info, I just need to clear my calendar for awhile and get determined!
  • The sites others posted all look great, also just looking on La Leche's website has provided good info and some inspiring success stories!  It looks like it will be a lot of hard work and take some time, but I think we both can do it! :)  Good luck to you, let me know how it goes for you!  We can cheer each other on! :)
  • That last post is to CDAS0506! :)
