I just recently had an unplanned c/s with my daughter that was emotionally very tough for me. I've found that researching VBAC for my next birth has helped immensely in getting past the negative feelings I had about my daughters entire birth. My question is I have read a ton recently and I'm confused about the 18 mo waiting period. Some sources say you need 18 months between deliveries, some say 18 months between pregnancies. Which is right? My doctor wants 18 months between pregnancies but we are moving to another state where the docs requirements are 18 months between deliveries. Is one better than the other? Do I have a better chance if of a successful VBAC if I wait 18 months to get pregnant or does it not matter?
Re: 18 months...
My last OB (moved from another city) could have cared less if I was pregnant at my 6 week PP check-up, I'd still be eligible for a trial-by-labour provided there was no other medical complications. She was from a small practice that were very proud of their 12% CS rate.

Like pp said, it is usually 18 between deliveries. But it does vary. A local hospital here requires 18 months between pregnancies.
My ob said I could get pregnant and attempt a vbac when dd was 5 weeks old.
