Swim diaper

I want to get DS into swim lessons but I have some pretty extreme anxiety about poop in a pool. Not that he probably would, but with my luck... so any recs for good swim diaper? I was eyeballing the i.play and the FINIS on amazon

Re: Swim diaper

  • I've used both iPlay and Bummis. I actually just ordered both. I got the Bummis Swimmi in size Medium (15-22 lbs), which should be about 3-10 months for us (based on DD1 and DD2's weights). Then I got another iPlay in size Large (22-25 lbs). I got the plain white version with snaps on one side. I already have the same iPlay diaper in size X-Large. The side snap has been fine for solid poops, but I figure I'll want the velcro on both sides for the softer infant poops.

  • I hated my iplay diaper that only snapped on one leg. DD's poops aren't super solid so changing her sliding a poopy diaper down one leg was awful!

  • I have heard good things about the iplay ones, the Bummis are tighter on the thighs so if your baby has bigger legs that may not be the best ones.  They chafed and made the skin on his thighs raw. :(

Good to know, he's got relatively chunky thighs... we'll stick w/ iplay.  So there are both snap & velcro in the iplay? The snap/poop story is enough to deter me from that one.

  • Both are excellent, if you have serious worries use 2 diapers. Some public pools require it.

  • Our swim school sells them. Might be worth checking with yours. The ones mine sells are good quality; obviously they want to protect the quality of their pool.
  • I highly recommend the iPlay ultimate swim diaper - use it at swimming lessons every week and haven't had an issue yet.

We've used both and both have worked, though DS has never pooped during swim lessons.  The iplay seemed to be sized smaller than the Finis.  Currently we are using a Tuga one and like it too, it's very similar to the Finis.  Between the 3, I'd get whichever is cheapest.

Thanks for the info! I think the Finis is cheaper (and cuter patterns!)

  • We used the iplay swim diaper and later the iplay trunks with built-in swim diaper.

We always put DS in a Little Swimmers disposable swim diaper under his trunks or fabric swim diaper, so there was never any issue with grossness.  Took off the iplay, then took off the Little Swimmers by tearing the sides--easy peasy!

  • We love the charlie banana swim diapers. I like that they have a drawstring in the waist as well as elastic so I can make sure I get a good fit.
