My SIL is hosting my baby shower and keeps asking if we have any theme. Since we aren't finding out the gender we are going neutral with greens and yellows (we already had an empty room in the house painted a light green). But we can't decide on if we should do a theme and if so what theme we would do. So, I was just wondering if anyone else is going with just doing colors or if you have a theme, what it is?
Re: Nursery Themes?
I'm finding out so I won't plan my theme until then, but I had a friend who was team green and they did an owl theme for their nursery. There are lots of great owl decor/products out there, and the nursery turned out really cute. It was also easy for them to make it more feminine once they had their baby girl.
We arn't finding out the gender either. I am thinking of painting the room a Tiffany blue and then if its a girl I will get pink large circle decal stickers. If its a boy we will do white ones. I think woodland animals would be cute. We live in the north in Canada so it fits. Little bunnies, moose, bears. Also, my husband is an rcmp officer so i think it could be cute.
My other ideas:
-Beatrix Potter
-Cow jumped over the moon
-Peter Pan

PgAL/PAL Welcome
we're doing a gender neutral travel theme (globes, maps, travel posters, etc.) the thing I'm looking most forward to is our photo wall.
we're going to have friends and family send us photos of themselves in their favorite places, and write on the mats "aunt sarah and uncle mike in thailand" or whatever. so then the baby will have fun photos of his/her family hanging in the room.
We will do the walls a very soft grey and add a fluffy white carpet.
Because we have two wolf-hybrids and he's really into wolves, hubby wanted to do like wolf cubs. But I kinda thought that was restricting. So, I said what about cubs (wolf, bear, lion, etc), but then thought that might but us all over the place decor wise. And any time we talk about it, we can't really agree on anything.
I don't particularly care for themes. plus I think those themed sets that are sold at places like BRU are ridiculously overpriced and you can't use half of the stuff in them.
We are going for more of a color scheme with this baby.
This was the first question my sister had as well!
We were initially thinking Peter Pan for a boy or Alice in Wonderland for a girl but because my sister wants to paint the room with a mural (great artist but something that she's never done) she asked if I would be open to a Dr Seuss motif that would be for a boy or girl.
If she's painting it she can do whatever she wants lol!
DS's room was green & yellow and it had a jungle theme which turned into more of a monkey theme.
We'll be finding out what this baby is, but it won't have a themed room at all. Just decorated in purple/grey for a girl or aqua/grey for a boy.
We are not finding out gender but are doing a puppy theme. The colors will be very neutral and we can make it more girly or boyish once the baby arrives. I saw a handmade puppy quilt on Esty that I loved so I am going to have my Mom make something similar and sheets and curtains will be solids. Puppy pictures and nicknacks around the room.
P.S. Ravenclaw1 I absolutely love your idea, please post a pic when it is done!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea! That's actually almost exactly what we originally wanted to do, but I changed my mind when I decided I'm too lazy to really do much decorating.
We just ended up doing colors.

This is what I did last time. I didn't even paint. I don't think many people do it this way though. But, I knew LO would be sleeping in the pnp in our room for the first 5 to 6 months anyway so it didn't matter to me if I had all the bedding and accessories up. And I totally agree about those matchy matchy sets being ridiculously over priced.
We will be doing a farm theme regardless of the gender. I will purchase gender neutral so I can use it with future children.
We own a farm, so if it is a girl or a boy they will be raised on the farm.

I love this idea so much too. I mentioned it to DH after the last time we discussed this on here, and I think we're going to do something similar... not sure exactly how it will look yet, but we're kind of basing it off of "Oh the places you'll go" by Dr. Seuss.

I like owl theme for gender neutral, the birds/nest theme and just saw on pinterest a really cute rubber ducky theme. Also have seen a lot of Alice in wonderland Mad Hatter tea party style themes for showers.
